The Ten Commandments are found in the Bible's Old Testament at Exodus, Chapter 20 (1-17).

They were given directly by God (God gave Moses this Commandments) to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai after He had delivered them from slavery in Egypt.

The 10 Commandments of God are the foundation of the moral code and legal system of justice for Christian civilization. 

1. I am the Lord your God

2. You shall have no other gods beside me and you shall not make for yourself an idol

3. Do not take the name of the Lord in vain

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy

5. Honor your father and your mother

6. You shall not kill (murder)

7. You shall not commit adultery

8. You shall not steal

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor

10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, wife, slaves and anything that belongs to your neighbor
